A worldwide team of 31 respected scientists says we’ve been looking at dementia all wrong…

The Telegraph reports the researchers believe the herpes simplex virus (HSV1) is a major culprit in Alzheimer’s disease.

Herpes is the virus that causes cold sores. It’s often transmitted through kissing. Around two-thirds of all people will contract some form of herpes at some point in their lives.

Other microbes—like the chlamydia bacteria and some types of fungi—may also play a role in the degenerative brain disorder.

According to The Telegraph, the scientists’ warning couldn’t be more blunt:

Professor Douglas Kell of the University of Manchester’s School of Chemistry said “…there is incontrovertible evidence that Alzheimer’s disease has a dormant microbial component… We can’t keep ignoring all of the evidence.”

Not all scientists and doctors agree with the microbial-Alzheimer’s link… but it looks like there’s a strong case for further research. You can read one of the study’s scientists make her case right here.

While the British research team has looked into the causes of dementia… another group of American experts studying dementia have found a promising new treatment for the debilitating disease.

A Tufts University professor unveiled the nutrient-rich cocktail recipe after watching the dramatic transformations of patients who used it… And some experts say this recipe can reverse memory loss and dementia in 90 days.
